Biography:
Black Canary, as portrayed within The CW's Arrowverse, refers to multiple characters who have taken up the mantle. The first, Dinah Laurel Lance, debuted in the *Arrow* TV show's pilot episode, "Pilot" (2012), as a lawyer working for CNRI (City Necessary Resources Initiative) and Oliver Queen's former girlfriend.
After Laurel's death in *Arrow* season four, Dinah Drake becomes the second character to adopt the Black Canary identity. Played by Juliana Harkavy, Dinah Drake is a former Central City police detective with a sonic scream metahuman ability. She initially joins Team Arrow and later leads her own team of vigilantes.
Through various storylines, including time travel, another version of Laurel Lance, from Earth-2 nicknamed "Black Siren," also appears. This version, initially a villain, eventually seeks redemption and takes on the Black Canary mantle, showing the complex and evolving nature of the Black Canary legacy within the Arrowverse.
